New branding for Salt City Brewing Co.

New Look, Same Great Taste

April 19, 2019

We’re proud to unveil the redesign of the Salt City Brewing Co. brand — a new logo, apparel, tap handles, growlers and cans, and a full list of helpful promotional materials. Front and center are the words “Salt City,” the nickname for Hutchinson, Kansas, where the company began. The hop cart logo is a nod to our hometown’s salt mining history — and a salute to the hard working, “salt of the earth” types who love our beer (careers in mining not required). Change is good, but don’t worry, we’re not changing any of the perfectly brewed goodness inside those beautiful new cans. We love our new look, brought to you by the great team at Howerton+White. Next time you’re in the neighborhood, enjoy a brew and pick up some new Salt City swag. Cheers!

Meet Nala Saison

Meet My New Best Friend: Nala Saison

April 2, 2019

A funny thing happened on the way to the brewery … I got a dog, a Dogue de Bordeaux, to be exact. You may recognize her breed (more commonly called a French Mastiff) if you’ve seen the 1989 Tom Hanks' film Turner and Hooch. Naming this one is a little like naming a beer, I think. “Nala” is inspired by another fave flick; she was Simba’s girlfriend in Lion King. And, I have to say, she looks and moves like a lioness. Then, it had to be “Saison” because of the breed’s origins, her beautiful bold yet light color, and her spicy and slightly fruity demeanor. Expect to meet Nala Saison the next time you’re in for a visit, but hurry, she won’t stay small for long!

Back to the Beginning

Or, how a career in geology launched a Kansas oil guy into the craft beer business … The origins of Salt City Brewing Co. really began with a fascination with all that’s underground: the rock, minerals, gases, waters and elements that together form our foundation. So, it wasn’t a far leap to begin studying the elemental ingredients found in beer:  water, malts, hops and yeasts. It’s been a long journey from those first experimental batches, with key partners and a community of friends helping along the way. But, I’m proud of the foundation this brewery stands on — a celebration of individual ingredients and people coming together to make something beautiful.
